7 Leslie Knope Quotes to Get You Through the End of the Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

As the spring semester winds down, final projects, papers and exams crowd our schedules until there’s nothing left to do but study 24/7. While the end of the school year is so close we can almost taste it, there’s still so much work to be done that it can be extremely overwhelming. We’re pulling all-nighters trying to meet that absurdly high word count on a paper, we’re downing caffeine like it’s the end of the world and we’ve pretty much made the library our permanent place of residence, all to finish the semester as strong as we started it. That being said, sometimes all we need is a simple reminder of our strength and awesomeness to get us through the day. So, who better to inspire us than the great Leslie Knope, Deputy Director of the Pawnee Parks Department turned President of the United States? Parks and Recreation provided us with one of the most iconic and inspiring characters in television when they gave us Leslie Knope, so here are seven quotes from the Queen of Pawnee (Ok, technically there is no Queen of Pawnee, but if there was, it would be Leslie) herself to help us through these final weeks of the semester.

“I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself.”

We’ve worked hard to create and submit work that we’re proud of, and you know what? We deserve to feel great about it!

“We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles and work. Or waffles, friends, work. But work is third.”

No matter how many assignments flood our planners, we have to remember that school and work are not the most important things in our lives. Take time to relax, hang out with friends and eat some waffles!

“Hey [insert your name here]. It’s [insert your name here]. Hang in there. I love you. Bye.”

Leslie saying this to herself is the perfect example of how we should build ourselves up. If you’re feeling stressed out, give yourself a classic Leslie Knope pep-talk.

“I am a goddess, a glorious female warrior.”

Do I need to say anything else?

“I need you to text me every 30 seconds that everything’s gonna be ok.”

Support from your friends is crucial, and it’s okay to ask for it!

“You are a beautiful, talented, brilliant musk ox.”

Two words: love yourself.

“I’m ready.”

This is the last line of the entire show and, tbh, I’m getting a little emotional just thinking about it. Leslie is always ready to meet any challenge she faces with confidence, which is exactly the kind of motivation we need to finish the year strong.

You’ve got this, Seahawks!
