Recently, I had the honor to interview Aniah Hall (#22) of the UNC womenâs basketball team. As a powerhouse on the court, Aniah has become a symbol of dedication, leadership, and Bear pride by showcasing her athletic excellence at every game. Her journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
Her Campus: What are your pre-game rituals?
Aniah Hall: I get to the facility about two hours before the game. I go in and do some treatment, I listen to music, stretch alone for a bit, and say a little prayer before I step on the court.
HC: Whatâs a song that hypes you up?
AH: âDreams and Nightmaresâ by Meek Mill. It never fails.
HC: What advice would you give your younger self?
AH: Don’t let fear stop you, just go for it. You’re stronger than you think.
HC: What was your favorite memory from a UNC game?
AH: Beating BYU in double overtime. They’re a Power Five team, and nobody expected us to win, but we showed up, played our hearts out, and pulled off the upset.
Currently, BYU is a member of The Big 12 Conference. When UNC played against BYU in November, our star player scored nine points with three rebounds while in overtime.
HC: Whatâs something you wish people knew about womenâs basketball?
AH: It’s just as competitive and intense as the men’s game. The game is fast, smart, and full of talent. You’re missing out if you’re not watching. it deserves the same respect and recognition.
Whether sheâs leading her team to victory or turning heads with her charisma, Aniah has become a notable star on campus. Aniahâs rise as a campus celebrity is more than a sports highlight; itâs a celebration of female empowerment in a space where women have constantly fought for visibility and respect. In a world that often overlooks womenâs sports, Aniah is not just playing the game, sheâs changing it.
