It’s that exciting time in the semester again, registration for the Spring semester is upon us! We have passed the halfway point in the Fall semester and all over campus students are clear about their need for a new semester. Whether you’ve completed your advising and registered for your courses already, or are still in the process of picking what classes you will take and waiting for your registration window to open, online classes are something you may need to prepare for. Here are some lessons I’ve learned along the way!
Do not procrastinate!
I know some days it’s hard to make yourself get your work done, but this is something you cannot afford with online courses. If you get behind or have trouble with the content, catching up can be very difficult, so avoid it at all costs!
Set aside plenty of time to do your work.
I have found that it works best for me if I set aside certain blocks of time that are specifically for working on my online course(s). This time is essentially the same as going to class, I use it to learn the content for the day or week. Doing the homework for the class is then factored into my regular homework time!
Ask for help.
Some classes will be more difficult than others, especially in an online format. If you begin to feel yourself struggling or even just have trouble grasping one topic, ask for help. This can be as simple as emailing your professor for simple questions but don’t be afraid to get a tutor! At the end of the day, a little help goes a long way.
So, if you’re considering online classes, don’t be afraid! Just make sure you keep yourself accountable and you will come out on top, Spartans.
