With warm spring air comes a sense of freedom and relaxation, unless you’re in college. Then it means new opportunities for social outings, exams, and a strong lack of motivation. Spring time gives us a small portion of the carefree (and assignment free) Summertime vibes that we’ve spent an entire semester anxiously waiting to taste. Many times we might find ourselves temped to skip class and soak up the sun or putting less effort into our assignments. Here are a few motivating efforts to help you finish strong so that you don’t find yourself stressing about bad grades throughout the Summer.
1. Deep clean your room– Piles of clothes, clutter, stacks of papers, all the makings of the typical college dorm room. If you want to keep your mind in a state of productivity, your environment is a great place to start. Now would be a great time to put away the laundry you’ve been avoiding for weeks, wash your bedding, vacuum, dust, and recycle all those random papers you accumulated in last semesters classes.
Turn on music, open a window, let in some sun, and get to cleaning!
2. Clean out your make-up bag– Odds are you’re one of the many girls who is guilty of purchasing a product that you constantly over look. Many products have a suggested shelf life so it may be time to get rid of that random tube that you’ve been meaning to use for the past six months. It’s also important that you properly (and regularly!) clean tools such as brushes, blenders, eyelash curlers, and sharpeners. Doing this keeps them functioning at tip-top shape and stops them from harboring bacteria that can be harmful to your skin.
3. Revamp your desk space-Your desk space is a super important area. Keeping it clean and tidy can really motivate you to actually use it. A desk is a really good place for stacks of books, random papers and other clutter but if you want to get anything done it has to be clutter free. Take time to give it a good cleaning-this means putting everything that has randomly made its way on your desk in its place! Once you have a nice clean space think about what you really need when you’re spending countless hours at your desk. Stationery products such as sticky notes, dry erase boards, and paper clips can have a huge influence on your desk space. Add even more flair with a cute lamp, a nice plant or even a framed quote.
4. Clean out your closet -Get rid of dark and heavy winter outerwear and make room for new and airy spring time additions, like pastels! Now is the time to bring pops of color into your wardrobe. Being stylish will definitely contribute to your productivity. If there’s anything you went through the entire season without even touching, now might be the time to let it go or finally look for inspiration on ways to wear it. If you’re looking to make some quick cash, take whatever you don’t want to a local consignment store.
5. Keep yourself organized -Right now your planner is probably working maximum overdrive, if you don’t have one you need to get one. A planner will help you to stay in control, stay organized, and keep your goals in sight. Keeping it updated can feel tedious but having a cute one will make all the difference! A shiny new planner also gives you an excuse to splurge on colorful pens, paper clips, and highlighters.
Spring time might feel like a big transition for some, but don’t forget the importance of staying focused. An organized environment will only help! Remember, you’re only as productive as your environment allows you to be!
