Halloween is one of the few holidays where you can have a great costume, but it comes at a cost. It gets more expensive the more popular the character is. There are a lot of great characters out there to dress up as that won’t cost you a dime; and that’s because you already have majority of the outfit in your closet! This idea is called closet cosplay and it was popularized by Instagrammer and cosplayer KieraPlease. While her most popular costumes aren’t closet cosplays, she has dressed up as dozens of characters from the comfort of her closet. And you can take inspiration to do the same! Here are a few of my favorites:

Here are just a few examples from her Instagram and she has plenty of more from her closet. While some of her outfits aren’t exact, it’s still a successful costume, as long as you’ve captured the look and feeling of the character. Happy Halloween!
