3 Ways Social Media Can Help You Build Your Brand

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCG chapter.

As distracting as social media can be, when it comes to creating your brand, there are many ways you can use it to your advantage. Here are some of the reason why I’m trying to build my own brand on social media.

1. You can show off your work.

If you have a talent, social media is a godsend. All you have to do is consistently post your creations on all your social media platforms. It might take a while for you to get a steady following, but that’s why you have to be consistent. You never know, your next tweet could go viral.

2. Networking

Anytime I talk to someone about the job search they all end up saying a variation of this: finding a job is all about who you know. Social media has made networking with brands, clients, and other creatives so easy for us, it’s almost insane. A simple comment on someone’s Instagram picture, photo tag, or a DM can take you a long way.

3. You can gain a following.

Like I said before, consistency is key, and with that it brings a following. A supportive following motivates you to continue showcasing your talent, and in turn, your follower count increases. Numbers shouldn’t be as important as they are, but with a large following it’s easier to show your work and come in contact with brands.

Instead of scrolling aimlessly through Instagram, try and use these tips to make yourself marketable to future employers.
