Why You Should Join Her Campus UNCC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCC chapter.

The start of a new school year holds endless opportunities to join different clubs and organizations on campus. With countless options, it can be a confusing time for college students looking to find where they fit in- I know it was for me.

If you’re looking for a sign, this is it baby.

What is Her Campus?

Her Campus is an online magazine written by empowered women, for empowered women. Since their launch in 2009, Her Campus has become the #1 media site for college women! Every article posted by Her Campus UNCC is written, published, and edited by the women of UNC Charlotte. Our articles cover everything from fashion, to sex and relationships, to careers, to health and wellness, to culture, and countless other topics.

Her Campus isn’t just active online, we keep tabs and participate in local events throughout the year to keep our readers up-to-date! Last year, Her Campus was invited to meet Tarana Burke, the founder of the “Me Too” movement and hear her speak at UNC Charlotte. We also had the opportunity to support a Her Campus Alum as she launched South Park’s newest shoe store. We even have a number of exciting events of our own including Her Conference® and College Fashion Week®. This organization gives Charlotte women the opportunity to use our voices to share stories, tips, information, and empower others.

What You’ll Do

Her Campus UNCC is a community of women who keep it real. We need writers, photographers, and activists looking for a place to talk about everything we talk about anyway. As a member, you’ll write four articles a month about anything that interests you, and we’ll publish it complete with gifs, memes, and pictures! Each article you write is then added to your online portfolio- hello resume booster. Aside from writing, we have biweekly meetings where you’ll have a voice in what events we hold and participate in throughout the semester (don’t worry there will be free food).

What You’ll Gain

Her Campus isn’t just an amazing organization for giving college women a voice; we also give you opportunities for the future! Since joining the Her Campus Team, members throughout the country have been offered internships and jobs with Glamour, Vogue, Buzzfeed, Vanity Fair, Seventeen, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, People, The Huffington Post, Teen Vogue, InStyle, Esquire, O magazine, MTV, The Washington Post, and more.

So, now that you’re on board, send us an email uncc@hercampus.com. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!
