The best part of college football is tailgating, but how do you survive the pregame long enough to make it to watch your team? Or if your team isn’t worth watching this season, how do you avoid making a complete fool of yourself or ending up in the hospital before kick off? Look no further. This guide will help with you all the essentials you need to look good and conquer the tailgate!

Things You’ll Need:

Cute Clothes In Your School’s Colors

Save the oversized t-shirts for class. Be Instagram-ready by wearing a cute team-colored outfit. If you want  to wear a t-shirt, invest in the latest lace-up style. For the girls who would rather wear a dress, check out lulus.com

A Fully-Charged Phone

You will use your phone a lot during the tailgate. If you don’t charge your phone beforehand, you might not be able to get that perfect insta or that hot guy’s number. Also, if you get separated from the squad and your phone dies, you will spend time frantically wandering around trying to find them. Avoid these mishaps by making sure your phone is fully charged before you go to the tailgate.

Good Friends

“Friends” will throw you in the back of an Uber so that they can keep partying; good friends will carry you home and force you to drink water, even if it means leaving the party. Go to the tailgate with the girls who will cut you off, pull you away from that creepy guy, and hold your stuff while you use the bathroom (for the billionth time). Having each other’s backs is essential.

Your Keys and IDs

Do not bring your car keys with you unless you are the designated driver, but always have your house key. If your outfit doesn’t have pockets, carry a small purse or give your stuff to a friend with pockets! Your driver’s license is a must-have, you won’t want a run-in with the campus police without it. As for the stadium and other buildings on campus, you will need your student ID to get in.

Water

Stay hydrated by bringing a sealed water bottle with you. Open containers are usually not allowed and the only thing to drink inside the tailgate is beer. Alternate beer with water to pace yourself so you can make it to the game! Drink plenty of water before and after the tailgate too!
