I really enjoy making art and since I just moved into a new apartment, I have been figuring out ways to decorate it using my own arts and crafts projects. When I was looking around for inspiration, I found these amazing pieces done with paint swatches. Here are some different art projects that you can do at home using paint swatches.

Paint Swatch Butterflies

I found this project when I was young and made these in my room back at home. I definitely still plan on making some in my new apartment as well. There are many different butterfly templates that you can find; this website has the templates that I usually use. These butterflies are very easy to make, and the upside to using paint swatches is that you don’t have to paint the butterflies after you cut them out. You can pick out which paint swatch colors you want and how to display the butterflies to personalize it to your room.

Paintings on Paint Swatches

Tiny canvas paintings are getting more popular these days and despite the difficulty in making them, they look amazing when they are done! Using paint swatches is useful because there is already a background that you can paint on. Some paint swatches also come with little phrases that describe the color. I usually paint images that match the phrase so that it acts as a caption! I tried multiple types of media on the paint swatches and did some research and found that acrylics worked much better than watercolor and colored pencils.

Paint Swatch Calendar

I was recently given a paint swatch calendar and I’ve been getting a good use out of it! If you make it with a frame on top, you can use dry erase parkers, which makes it reusable. You can make it a monthly or weekly calendar and you have plenty of space to write your to-dos. I personally use mine to put in events that I have to attend. Here is a website that I found which explains how to make a paint swatch calendar.

Using paint swatches is a fun way to decorate your home with minimal costs. These paint swatches are free at Home Depot so it’s a very cheap alternative to buying fancy decor. The artwork turns out beautiful and professional, making it a really cool craft project for any age.
