There are plenty of times when I find myself needing to find music to remind myself of how I’m powerful and capable of change, whether that be in the morning trying to get to class or while on the treadmill.

This month is Women’s History Month. This month is meant to emphasize and “honor women’s’ contributions in American history.” Although this is only one month out of a year, the idea of women and our contributions is something that is meant to be celebrated year round.

For a long time, women in music were overwritten and overlooked. A lot of female artists attempting to enter male-dominated music genres and fields still are today. Many women shaped and created the music industry that we have today, and yet many of their names are still unknown.

In honor of Women’s History Month in 2019, I have spent weeks putting together and perfecting a playlist (I would be honored if you listened to the Spotify playlist I made) that I feel is not only about the empowerment of women but is also fun, meaningful, energetic and by women. This playlist not only crosses genres, but it also crosses decades.

I hope you appreciate and enjoy these songs as much as I do.
