“Outlander”: The Reunion We Have Been Waiting For

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

If you are remotely into “Outlander,” Sunday’s episode is something you have been waiting for, for so long, so so long.

The episode was titled “Freedom & Whisky.” First of all, the title of this episode is the definition of a perfect life. Imagine an endless supply of whisky and an ability to do whatever you want (within reason for course), that is a life to definitely look forward to.

Five episodes, it took five episodes to reunite our star-crossed lovers Claire and Jaime. Was it worth the wait? Did they deliver? Am I filled with so much excitement about what is coming next? Yes! Yes!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*Spoiler alert* by the way:

The episode started of with no sign that this was going to be the “ONE,” the one we have been waiting for. With Brianna having troubles and Claire questioning things. Then our boy Roger brings some great news and you start thinking “Oh My God! Oh My God!” But Claire being Claire decides to hide this wonderful news making me lose my mind. Like “Why Claire, WHY?!!!!”

Anyway, she came to her senses along the way, tells Brianna, makes this awesome outfit for when she returns back, says goodbye and all the fun stuff. Appreciating the writers for not making us go through the stones all over again, loved the thing with puddle. Especially how it relates to the story she told of her childhood reaction to puddles. Her taking a step in this world and then stepping out in the next world showing how she isn’t afraid this time and is ready for whatever.

YOU GO CLAIRE!!!!!!!!!!

Now the time is upon us. The time we have been waiting for. “The reunion of the century”

The entire time I’m thinking, “This better go the way I want it to go.” She sees him, says “Jaime,” he slowly turns around confused wondering is this possible could it really be her. Looks at her, gives us that Jaime smile and says “Sassenach.”

If this is what happened I would have been completely satisfied with life in that moment. But does this happen? No, of course not.

It starts off with Jaime thinking it is some random person we do not know yet, I’m assuming and it better be not someone who can complicate things. Things are complicated enough, not born in the same century is good enough along with every other thing that is going in their lives already.

So, she says “It’s not *insert name of person*, It’s me. Claire.” He turns around, confused thinking “WHAT?!!!!”, sees her and he is shook, takes a step back and rests on the table behind him. Then he FAINTS. Jaime Alexander Malcolm Fraser fainted like a little b**ch.

Fraser is human y’all, at least mostly. I have never laughed so much and been happy to see someone faint. Him fainting is the perfect representation of expressing his feelings. No words he could have said would say, “I can’t believe you’re here.” Like fainting did, especially because he is as manly as they come.

So many questions to come. How did Fraser become a publisher? Will Brianna and Jaime ever meet? Could they go back to the 20th century? Is Claire going to stay with Jaime forever? What has Jamie been doing? Will their 20 years apart what will change? Would their love still be as strong?

Only one way to find out. WATCH THE NEXT EPISODES.
