Megan Trainor’s song “All About That Bass” is about as creative as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She repeats the same line over and over again, until the listener simply cannot think of anything but “that bass” and when it will end. Personally, I change the station every time I hear the song on the radio.

There are those that would argue this song is an inspiration to young girls as she celebrates all body shapes. I commend her efforts in trying to promote a positive body image for girls, but, in doing so, she is excluding those girls who are “trebles.” It seems these days, it’s a battle between big and small. No one seems to just be teaching plain old acceptance anymore. All she is doing is producing yet another pop song that’s been heard time and time again.

Also, consider the fact Trainor proclaims boys like a girl with a big butt because they have more to “hold at night.” HELLO! Yet another song preaching you should accept yourself because of what a guy thinks, instead of you accepting yourself for who you are (someone with a big butt).

I foresee Megan Trainor being yet another one-hit wonder who fades into music history once people realize how much this song is lacking. Her voice is decent, but it is not something to make a listener stop in their tracks.

The fact the song was even converted to be performed at the CMAs recently is such a letdown in my eyes. Miranda Lambert’s songs are inspiring enough, as well as her musical success. She didn’t need to reduce her credibility by performing this song for her fans. One genre is more than enough for this song.

This week, “All About That Bass” is currently sitting at number one on the charts, and does not seem like it will be falling anytime soon. All one can do is sit back and hope beyond hope that one day it won’t be all about that bass.

"Sam I am," and I LOVE to read. Whether it's Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" or The Mortal Instruments series, I'm always reading. And when I'm not reading, I'm writing; English papers, magazine editorials, you name it! Italian food is my favorite, shoe shopping is my addiction, and I hate cold weather. I'm also a proud member of Slytherin house (we're not all bad, I swear).
