HCUK Presents #MemberMonday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UK chapter.

Name: Emily Beaucham

Age: 22

Year: Senior

Major: Secondary Education – Social Studies and History

Hometown: Georgetown, Ky.

What is your position with Her Campus UK? (Staff writer, exec board position, etc.)?

I am the Events and Marketing Director on the Her Campus UK Executive Board

How did you get involved with Her Campus UK?

I knew two of the first writers at UK, Hannah Woosely and Abbie Long and they told me more about Her Campus. They kind of recruited me to the organization!

What is your favorite part about being a writer for Her Campus UK?

I love the freedom I have as a writer for Her Campus and I love all of the different people I have gotten to meet!

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be a high school Social Studies teacher or a fiction author.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies are napping, watching Netflix, online shopping, writing and drawing.

Coffee or tea? (Defend your answer)

Coffee! Tea is good iced and sweetened or when I am sick. I prefer coffee because tea does not hold the same kick of caffeine. There is also a major sense of comfort that comes with a warm white chocolate mocha.

Any advice for new students whom might want to get involved in Her Campus UK?

Definitely take the jump and do it! I was super intimidated by the thought of putting my thoughts and writing out for everyone to read, but I definitely do not regret it! Take a breath of relief with the thought that every one of us has felt that same fear and are here to support you.

What is your favorite memory so far at UK?

My favorite memory would probably be hosting our Her Campus table at Campus Ruckus. I loved getting to inform so many girls about Her Campus and the movement we are representing. Being able to see the excitement in some of their faces and knowing how much they were going to love our group of girls was one of the best feelings ever.

My hair is usually frizzy and I’m usually craving coffee. I’m a senior at U.K. majoring in Secondary Education with a focus in Social Studies and minoring in Anthropology. I’m so happy to be writing for HerCampus, and so blessed to be on our executive board for my senior year!
