1.     Know how to shampoo and condition. Shampoo your scalp and condition your ends. I use a shampoo and conditioner that is for wavy/curly hair and it really helps define the waves/curls.

2.     Wash your hair every other day unless it gets really oily. My hair is so thick I can go a week without washing my hair and it still looks perfectly normal.

3.     Stray away from heat whenever possible. You may hear this a lot, but it is significant in keeping your hair healthy. I rarely ever use heat on my hair, but when I do I use repairing oil.

4.     Deep condition. You do not have to go out and buy an expensive deep conditioner, just use coconut oil or olive oil. This will help your hair get the moisture that it doesn’t get it your daily routine. Your hair will love it.

5.     Do not brush your hair wet. Pulling out tangles while your hair is wet can damage the hair even more than when it is dry. Personally, I rarely ever brush my hair, but only because it doesn’t need brushed. Brushing my hair makes it frizzy and pulls out my natural waves/curls. I usually just run my fingers through my hair to detangle it, but it is rarely tangled.

6.     Do not wear tight hairstyles frequently. If you have thick hair like I do then it weighs down your head and can make your neck hurt or give you a headache. It can also damage your hair.

While you do not have to follow these tips, they make keep your hair healthy and aid in hair growth.
