Fun Fall Activities Around Lexington, KY

The start of September brings the transition from summer to fall, which creates excitement for many people. The season of apple picking, pumpkin patches, cozy sweaters and football games is almost upon us.

 

Lexington and its surrounding areas offer many fun activities and events for people to experience throughout the months of September, October and November.

 

Take a look at these exciting events happening around Lexington that will put you and your friends in the ultimate autumn mood.

 

  • Festival Latino de Lexington – Downtown Lexington

The Festival Latino is taking place this weekend Sept.14 and 15 in downtown Lexington near the courthouse. The festival offers a cultural showcase of Latin American and Latino culture. Live music, dancing, latin cuisine and traditional arts are just some of the many cultural experiences the festival offers.

 

  • The Harvest Festival – Evans Orchard and Cider Mill

Get the ultimate fall experience during the Harvest Festival at Evans Orchard in Georgetown, Ky. The festival offers many fun fall activities such as apple and pumpkin picking, hay rides and a corn maze. You can also explore the Farm Market and buy fall favorites like apple cider, canned jams and fresh honey. The Harvest festival takes place every weekend from Sept. 15 through Oct. 29.

 

  • The Night Market – Downtown Lexington

Enjoy the cool fall air at the Night Market in downtown Lexington during the first Friday of every month until December. The Night Market features local vendors, artists, nonprofits and musicians from the Lexington area. Food trucks and a beer trailer are also present so you can enjoy the tastes of Lexington. Some of the vendors include Kentucky for Kentucky and West Sixth Brewery.

 

  • PumpkinMania – Transylvania University

Get into the Halloween spirit at Transylvania’s annual PumpkinMania event. This event features hundreds of uniquely carved and decorated pumpkins for viewers to see. The event also include trick-or-treating for the kids, food trucks and live music. This year’s event is on Oct.30.

 

  • UK Homecoming Week – University of Kentucky

One of the most exciting events happening around the fall is UK’s homecoming week. This year’s homecoming week runs Oct. 14 to 21. Homecoming week is filled with so many fun events around campus, tons of school spirit and of course the big football game on Saturday. Nothing screams fall more than a good homecoming football game!

I aspire to be a public relations professional for a healthcare facility that works to positively impact the lives of children, families and the community. My experience as a PR/Marketing intern at the UK International Center has helped me to gain valuable skills in creating promotional digital and print materials for an organization as well communicating to an organization's target audiences. My position as a Resident Advisor as also allowed me to grow my event planning, public communication and creative marketing skills.
