An important part of taking care of myself is keeping my space clean and organized. It makes me feel more comfortable, focused and put together. Spring cleaning is a great tradition to tidy up your space. Here are five tips to help you through it.

Clean up your digital space. Spring cleaning is about more than folding the piles of laundry in your room! Organizing your phone and other technology will free up storage, make your layout look neater and help you stay focused. I find it helpful to only keep the apps I use frequently visible on my home screen (and organized into folders).

Break your cleaning down into smaller parts. Don’t try to do everything at once. Split your room into parts (like your desk, closet and dresser) so you don’t get overwhelmed.

You don’t have to overdo it. You don’t have to throw everything out and scrub every surface and corner of your space. It’s totally fine to just organize your things and tidy up. even something as simple as making your bed is a great way to make your space feel neater and more put together.

Listen to podcasts or streams to pass the time. It can get boring if you’re cleaning in silence, so a great way to overcome this boredom is to listen to some media while you clean. My favorites are COOLDOG and Emergency Intercom!

Try to continue your cleaning often. If you clean a little bit every day, you won’t have to to do a lot of cleaning all at once, and your space will be consistently cleaner.
