Hopefully, you haven’t been missing out on bingeing Black Mirror on Netflix for the past three years. The episodes are always thought-provoking, interesting and sometimes just flat out terrifying. The fourth season of the TV show was released over a year ago on Netflix. Similarly, in December, Black Mirror released “Bandersnatch,” an interactive film that lets the audience choose their own ending. While I certainly appreciated this film and spent days rewatching it to get new endings, I, along with many other fans, am wondering why hasn’t season 5 of Black Mirror been released yet?
Most fans were under the impression that the TV show would have been released by now since season three was released on Netflix in October 2016 and season four in December 2017. However, unfortunately Black Mirror creator and writer Charlie Brooker said that making “Bandersnatch” was so challenging that the fifth season had to be pushed back. For now, all we know is that the fifth season is set to be released in 2019. Although I’m disappointed by the setback, I am relieved that it was for a good reason. I guess I’ll just have to rewatch “Bandersnatch” again until the next season is released.
