Showing school spirit at a largely commuter college can be very difficult. Us UIC students have to be resourceful to find ways to plan events for each other. So far this semester, our school staff and students have done an excellent job to design programs and “fun fairs” that facilitate our interactions. (Not to mention that these events have led to some fabulous parties!) Clubs and organizations have recruited tons of new members, and freshmen have begun to enter into the Greek life more than ever. However, I’m sure that when you’re looking for something different and cheap for you and your friends to do, you often don’t think of going to see a play….

UIC’s theatre is known for choosing to present and often times direct fantastically themed plays for our enjoyment and learning ability. The 2011-2012 season is largely based around the theme of Urban Legends and Rural Myths. To start off this tradition, we are presenting the “Drama Circle Award-winning “When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?”. This dramatic account begins when an aggressive Vietnam War veteran enters a diner in a small rural community, and begins to subject its inhabitants to physical, emotional, and even mental torture. This myth is brought to life through the American hero/ fallen man dichotomy.

There are plenty of dates available for you to attend, and the cost is only $11 for UIC students with an I-Card!
