Not everyone is lucky enough to be going on vacation this summer. Some of us might be working or taking extra summer classes. If this is your situation please remember that it is important to take some time out of your hectic day and just sit back and relax. A perfect way to do this is to catch up on your favorite shows or explore new ones. Here are a few options we have for you to watch this summer. Enjoy!

1.) New Girl

If you haven’t heard of New Girl or found the time to watch it, you are missing out on some quirky comedy. Four roommates reside in one apartment in California: 3 guys and 1 girl. Zooey Deschanel brings both beauty and peculiarity to the show. Her character will keep you laughing while her 3 roommates compliment her comedy wonderfully with their contrasting personalities. It airs on FOX and is now on its third season. You can watch episodes for free on websites like Hulu.

2.) Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is all the rage right now. Currently on its fourth season, HBO introduced this show in 2011 and still has fans tuning in weekly to see what happens next. Its interesting plot is simply described as ‘seven noble families fighting for control of the mythical land of Westeros.’ Even if you’re not a fan of myth, magic, or fantasy genres, give this show a chance and find out what everyone is raving about.

3.) Shameless

If you’ve never seen Shameless, you’re missing out on some serious family drama. Showtime presented Shameless years ago with it now in its third season. Two unfit parents leave their six children to survive life in Chicago with the oldest sister, played by Emmy Rossum, taking the reigns. It has humor, drama, survival, and is all filmed nearby in our very own city. Check out all three seasons as you’re sure to be hooked.

4.) Parks and Recreation

NBC has worked wonders with its show Parks and Recreation, starring SNL’s Amy Poehler. It’s comedy at it’s best, based on a family-like Parks and Recreation department in Pawnee, Indiana. You can’t help but feel like a part of the group after tuning in for all five seasons. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed with this one.

5.) How I Met Your Mother

This is another show that you have to have heard of even if you’ve never seen it. How I Met Your Mother is a show about a group of five friends living in New York. They go through relationships, jobs, and problems all with the support of one another. Charming and lovable, this group will have you hooked. The best part? All seven seasons are on Netflix! The eighth is scheduled to be added, but until then, there are 160 episodes available for your viewing.

Catching up on your favorite shows or new ones can be a great way to relax a bit over the summer while still staying busy with your other activities. Hopefully these options will interest you and help you to find a new favorite!
