He has fought wars for his country

He has given up his life for his people

Why have you not moved? , they ask

I have moved for my country

But I will move no longer

Let me be

Sometimes, they ask

Is it hard to be blind?

I gave them my eyes

The least you could give me, he says

Is peace

He has fought wars for his country

He has given up his life for his people

There were others, they say

You were just a man

I may be just a man

And you are also just a man

But I have done what you have not

Live your life, they say

Now, you can do what you want

Is there anything left for me?

After the war has gone?

He has fought wars for his country

He has given up his life for his people

He was a good man, they mourned

He gave up his life for his country

Let the man rest

After all he has done

The rivers will flow

And people will go

And one day

No one will remember

That there was once a man

He has fought wars for his country

He has given up his life for his people
