Halloween is just around the corner and Chicago is full of spooky activities to get you in the holiday spirit. Here are a few of my recommendations.
- Halloween Tattoos at Taylor Street
-
Located right by UIC, Taylor Street Tattoo Co. offers Halloween tattoos at a discounted price throughout all of October. There are two flash sheets full of fun designs to choose from. The smaller tattoos cost $40 and the larger ones start at $140, available in color or black and gray.
- Scary Movies
-
It wouldn’t be October without watching a few horror movies and Chicago theaters have you covered. Just a blue line ride away is The Logan Theatre, where you can catch such horror classics as Night of the Living Dead and The Exorcist throughout this month. A little further away (but well worth the trek) is the Music Box Theatre, presenting a Halloween version of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Both theaters are showing a Halloween Double Feature, where you can watch Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018) back to back.
- Visit Haunted Sites
-
Whether or not you believe in the supernatural, visiting “haunted” locations is a fun way to spend an October night. You don’t even have to leave campus to explore the Jane Adams Hull-House, rumored to be haunted. Use your Ventra card to explore the haunted parts of the city with your friends, or sign up for a guided tour.
- Stay In
-
If you don’t feel like braving the windy weather in search of spookiness, bring Halloween indoors! Carve pumpkins, stock up on your favorite candy, listen to spooky music, or watch a scary movie from the comfort of your own home.
Have fun and be safe!
