It seems like shy guys are their own species. If dating was a game of poker, they would be invincible. Basically, their ups are our downs and their rights are our lefts. Sigh, the struggle to figure them out is real, unless you know the secrets to figuring them out.
Shy guys may be extremely popular in their clique, be athletic, or be the most beautiful creature on the planet. But they generally suffer from low self-esteem. This low self-esteem can come from anything, including bad past relationships or a poor family environment.
I’m going to let you all in on the shy guy. And hopefully, I’ll clear up some of the misconceptions out there.
1. Shy guys will stare and look away if they like you.
Shy guys will stare at you if they like you. But if you catch them looking, they will look away from embarrassment.
2. Shy guys will avoid talking to you if they like you and have a hard time believing that anyone would like them.
This is why it’s so hard to understand them. If a shy guy gets the hint (whatever that may be) that you’re onto him, he will avoid you. They can’t believe that someone likes them or will date them. They avoid you because they think that you’re just trying to embarrass them.
3. Shy guys will not talk to their friends about you.
Remember when I said that shy guys would be invincible at a game of poker? Shy guys are secretive, especially when it’s about a gal they fancy. Their friends will not know a thing, but his diary will (if he has one, and I have yet to meet that guy).
4. Shy guys will appear at the same places as you if he likes you.
If you notice a guy (let’s say it’s your shy crush for simplicity) lingering about, this guy definitely
likes you or is interested in some way.
5. Shy guys are at a loss for words if they like you.
Shy guys tend to be at a loss for words once a conversation with their crush starts rolling. For example, you ask a question and he replies with a quick, one-word reply or with a stream of words that ends up giving you a headache because he spoke too fast. It’s not that they don’t want to talk to you. They just don’t know how to speak with their crush in a normal way.
6. Shy guys will not find a way to touch you if they like you.
This extremely true for those guys labeled as social butterflies or charmers. These guys do this to build a sense of comfort between the two of you. Shy guys, on the other hand, will most likely not try to touch you in order to be less transparent about their feelings.
But, what happens when you ended up asking your shy crush if they liked you?
They will most likely reply with something ridiculous: “I don’t really like you. I just think of you as a little sister.”
…Okay, sure you do.
If you get told something like this when you darn well know he has feelings for you, you can say something like: “That’s a shame. because I really like you.”
This will open these shy butterflies right up. And if that happens, keep the convo light and easy filled with comforting smiles.
