With a myriad of talents, Gloria Yum, a student at UIC, has a lot of potential to succeed in whatever she puts her mind to. In relation to fashion, she flipped through magazines and pasted the inspirational pictures into a binder. In collecting these photos, she thinks of fashion as a manner of expressing herself. She gained an opportunity at the UIC fashion show where she could combine her talents in designing, modeling and coordinating.
Â
She categorized the designs into: “eco-friendly, monster, brand geek, and cultural”. These designs all combined was “adding something people usually would not see” as well as creating a look that would inspire them to jump into the world of designing and fashion.Â
Â
In the world of fashion, she has two different inspirations. One of them is Lady Gaga because “she is not scared of what others will say about her unique looks. Her outfits always make me stop and stare, and that is a great thing if you want to be noticed and stand out”. Another inspiration is Kimora Lee Simmons.  She inspires Gloria because of how she sticks to and executes all of her designs for a fashion show.

As a career path, Gloria intends to become an occupational therapist because “I can always help people when they need it.” Her goal is to have some kind of “clothing/shoe/purse business”. Furthermore, as an applied psychology major, she aspires to become a life changing occupational therapist, and participate in a lot of volunteer work. In partaking in the volunteer work, looking into fashion and occupational therapy, she can travel to different countries and explore the different styles.
