6 Crime Podcasts That You Should DEFINITELY Listen To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

I just recently got into podcasts and let me tell you, they are the frickin’ best. Not only are they informative and entertaining but also they are so addicting! They are the best on long train rides, especially for me as I am a commuter. There are so many types of podcasts that you can choose from and my preferences are crime mysteries/paranormal podcasts. These explore popular crimes and infamous serial killers, as well as popular ghost stories and folklore. Most podcasts are entirely free and easy to download which makes them so appealing!

Here are some podcasts that you should definitely listen to (these are all free podcasts that can be easily downloaded off the Podcast app on iPhone).

1. The Black Tapes

Alex Regan is an investigative journalist who follows the work of Dr. Richard Strand. With twists and turns, you will not want to stop listening to this podcast!

2. The NoSleep Podcast

This is a collection of horror stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but also provide you with a good scare!

3. Serial

Adnan Syed is convicted of killing his girlfriend Hae Min Lee in Baltimore, 1999. Follow the case and decide for yourself if he is innocent or guilty.

4. Unsolved Murders

Taking some of the most infamous murders that have gone on in the United States, such that of The Zodiac Killer to the Axe Man, they break down aspects of these unsolved cases that will continually keep you wondering, “who did it?”

5. Stranglers

Follows the investigation into Boston Strangler in 1966, discusses victims, case notes and interviews family members of victims.

6. Lore

Aaron Mankhe explores popular folklore and gives his take on popular stories that we are sometimes told.

These are just a few of my favorites! I hope to have inspired you to go outside the realm of Facebook and Twitter and download a good podcast!
