5 Thank You’s To My First Job

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

Two years ago I would have never thought that my first job would impact my life so much. Work is not always fun and games, but sometimes it is!

1. Thank you for teaching me responsibility

At the age of 17 when I first got my job, I thought I didn’t have any responsibilities. But sooner or later I was going to have to start paying for things myself. Thank you for teaching me to save my money and not to spend it on pointless things.

2. Thank you for teaching me team work

There’s no room to be selfish when working in a sports bar. We all help each other out or else your shift is going to be terrible.

3. Thank you for paying for my coffee addiction

I’m pretty sure 50% of the money I made went right to coffee, but that’s okay.

4. Thank you for introducing me to a variety of sports

Before working at a sports bar, I didn’t care for any sport besides football, but now I can say I’m a fan of hockey, baseball, and UFC!

5. Thank you for all the amazing friends you brought me.

I can honestly say that more than half of my close friends I met through work. I wouldn’t trade my coworkers for anything in the world.
