The Spring 2016 semester has finally started back. Do you know what that means? It’s time to get back to business and focus on doing well in your classes. I’m pretty sure most of our New Year academic resolutions were to do better in college, whether its getting better grades, going to class, or to stop procrastinating with assignments. So here are five tips to help you achieve your academic resolutions!
1. Go to EVERY class!
The first week of classes has just past and you attended each and every class. Congratulations! BUT, the key to doing well is to attend EVERY class. You do not want to miss out on important material (hint: something that may be on an upcoming exam), even if your professor posts the entire lecture online.
2. Ask Questions.
Confused? Go to office hours or get a tutor. Get to know your professor; he/she may not be as bad as you think. Plus, if you aren’t doing so well in the class and are on the edge of a C or D, your professor may bump your grade up to the C.
3. Don’t Wait!
Stop procrastinating when it comes to assignments. Start the assignment when you receive it or at least read over the assignment. Doing a little each day will help you stay on track with your project.
4. PLAN.
Plan, plan, and plan! College is very busy. Get yourself a planner and write down everything from your personal life to your academic. This little book will be a lifesaver, even if you start in the middle of the second semester!
5. Get involved.
Believe it or not, getting involved on campus will help you achieve in your academics, because most clubs, sports, and Greek life require certain grades and a GPA. This can be your motivation to do well academically.
