Music has the power to bring people together and it’s definitely a way to find a common ground with others. Here is a list of five amazing female artists of now, all sharing different sound qualities and backgrounds making each of their sounds nuanced, they have become the music of our generation.

1. SZA

Also known by her real name is Solana Rowe she’s an American singer-songwriter born in St. Louis. Her genre of music can be described as neo-soul hip hop R&B. She is most well known for her hit Childs Play which she collaborated on with the famous Chicago-based rapper Chance the Rapper. She’s also performed at Lollapalooza and all of her music can be found on Spotify. 

2. Banks

Also known by her real name which is Jillian Rose Banks, she is an American singer-songwriter from Orange County California. Her sound is very sultry and some say her genre is a new one called trip hop but she also incorporates R&B in her style as well. Her look is also a huge part of her career, Banks’ style is very grunge and dark when she performs which adds to her captivating performances on stage.

3. Bishop Briggs

Also known by her real name Sarah Grace McLaughlin is a British musician based in Los Angeles California. Her sound is very soulful and her strong vocals mixed with her eclectic beats are breathtaking, to say the least. Since she became popular around 2015, she has been signed to Island Records. She is most well known her single River which can be found on Spotify. Her stage name Bishop Briggs comes from her parent’s hometown in Bishopbriggs Scottland. 

4. Aluna George

Also known by her real name Aluna Francis her stage name is a combination of hers and her producer’s name George Reid. They are an electronic duo from London that became popular around 2012 when their first single You Know You Like It was released. Their style can be classified as pop but her high vocals give a very innocent vibe to her music. In 2015 they signed with Interscope Records and became a hit since then, they performed at Lollapalooza last summer and from there, their career continues to prosper.

5. Azaelia Banks

Also known by her real name Azealia Amanda Banks is a rapper and a singer-songwriter. She grew up in Harlem New York and started showcasing her music on Myspace in 2008. Eventually, she was signed to XL Recording at the young age of seventeen. Her music has a pop and rap feel to it, she is most well known for her single 212.
