Although UIC prides itself on being a diverse campus, there are at least 20 things all of us can bond over as UIC students. We created a list of things you might find familiar, annoying, and maybe even comforting below. 


1. You got a free little red UIC bag at orienation

2. You’ve gotten lost in BSB multiple times

3. Your ears pop every time you ride the UH elevator

4. You’ve received free samples in the quad

5. You’re used to the extreme thermostat issues in the older buildings (ie. BSB, Burnham Hall, Stevenson Hall, etc.)

6. You get at least 8 UIC Massmails each night at 3AM

7. You’ve gone to at least one UIC concert at the Pavilion

8. You check every year to see who is performing at “Spark in the Park”

9. You’ve found yourself waiting in the U-Pass line for at least 15 minutes

10. You get UIC Crime Alerts about UIC students being robbed weekly

11. The fire alarms go off in the Resident Halls at least 10 times per year

12. You’ve been handed a newspaper by the guy at the bottom of the escalators in SES

13. You’ve dreaded the trek to SSB

14. You have trouble finding a table on the 4th floor of the library

15. You’ve been solicited by TCF to get a free red UIC hoodie

16. You tend to get through your teacher evaluations as fast as possible

17. No hands go up in your classes when a volunteer is needed to bring the teacher evaluations to the 27th floor of UH

18. You’ve been annoyed by the long wait for the library elevators

19. You contemplate and choose wisely how to use your 4 tickets to graduation

20. You know all of the building names by their acronyms in this article (ie. BSB, SSB, UH)

 

Campus: University of Illinois at Chicago Major: English with a concentration in Media, Rhetorical and Cultural Studies Minor: Germanic Studies Status: Senior Jennifer is a born and raised Chicago girl passionate about her studies. She loves to help people all that she can and contribute to the betterment of others. Used to being on the go, Jennifer is enthusiastic about obtaining her degree and learning many different things along the way. She is interested in music, movies, reading, volunteering, and is a major Blackhawks fan. Her dream is obtain her degree and work with writing in a fashion that will reach out to people.
