Whether you were that kid who read a book a day or are new to reading, finding the genre that speaks to you is the key to enjoying reading. If you are like me, you love a good romance novel with a happy ending, and Emily Henry always delivers the perfect journey to romance. Each character is written with such detail and relatability that you lose yourself in every book of hers. Emily Henry is my Taylor Swift of the literary world and here is my spoiler-free blurb about four of her most popular romance novels.

people we meet on Vacation

The perfect friends-to-lovers novel is gifted to us through People We Meet on Vacation. While the title may be slightly misleading, the plot takes a whole new turn on friends-to-lovers romance. The overall storytelling setup of this novel adds so much detail and dimension to the characters, as we get to hear flashback stories of the two love interests’ lives together. The two main characters, Alex and Poppy, could not be more different yet as you dive deeper into each character Henry makes it strikingly clear how perfect they are for each other. Alex and Poppy’s connection to each other reminds me of the film When Harry Met Sally, so if that is your go-to romance film then this may be your next read!

beach read

By far one of my favorite novels of all time is Beach Read. Emily Henry’s ability to make mundane life seem full of possibility and love is something that I take out of each of her romance novels. The two love interests, Gus and January, have such unique and witty dialogue that pulls you into turning to the next page. Henry takes so many varying topics of life and brings them together to prove that soulmates exist in every stage of life. What I love most about this novel is that it is not only focused on the love between two rivaling authors, but it expands into understanding why Gus and January are the way they are, which makes their romance even more satisfying. This novel expands into the topics of loss, friendship, and secrets, while also creating such dynamic characters that find love together.

book lovers

The love interests, Nora and Charlie, are not the typical characters you find in a romance novel. Nora is a hardcore, focused literary agent who doesn’t keep romance on her list of priorities, especially with editor Charlie Lastra. When Charlie shows up to Nora’s escape from the city, their unlikely romance begins. The small town setting is what gives this novel such a warm and comforting vibe, similar to the town of Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls. What I love most about this novel is the humorous situations they find themselves in together, which makes it impossible to deny their compatibility. The overall meaning that I gained from this read was knowing that there’s no one way to love and that it exists all around for everyone. We get to see a love interest who is driven and ambitious, which creates such an empowering feeling that continues to uplift me as I read.

happy place

This novel only came out last April, and it took over all my social media feeds. Something different from her other novels, she creates an entire friend group dynamic that has given me some of my favorite literary characters. Wyn and Harriet are the love interests in this novel, and their journey to romance is painfully beautiful. Throughout the book, we see flashbacks of what Harriet remembers as her ‘happy place,’ only to be thrown into reality in the following chapters. Wyn and Harriet may be one of my favorite romance novel couples, just because of how realistic Emily Henry paints their relationship. We get to see them struggle and succeed together, and you truly understand what it means to find someone who completes you. On top of their treacherous journey, we see the people around them also finding love together. If you are a fan of shows like New Girl or Friends then I would definitely recommend this book as your next read.

Something that I absolutely adore about Emily Henry’s romance novels, is that if you pay close attention, they are all connected. By this I mean the characters mention each other or find themselves in a place mentioned in the previous novel. This is top-tier world-building that gives ultimate satisfaction when you have completed all of Emily Henry’s romance novels. I hope I have added to your TBR list. Happy reading!
