‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Is Coming to Netflix

If you love watching Netflix, then get ready to add another series to your list.

In not so unfortunate news, ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ will be a Netflix original series. For those not familiar with the title, the show will be based off of the book series with the same name, written by Lemony Snicket. The series follows three orphan siblings, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire as they try to escape the evil clutches of Count Olaf and his various schemes to get his hands on the Baudelaire fortune.  Along the way, the Baudelaires discover secrets about their parents’ past.

The show is set to premiere later this year. Neil Patrick Harris, most well known for his role on ‘How I Met Your Mother’, will play the role of Count Olaf. Newcomers Melina Weissman and Louis Hynes are set to play the roles of Violet and Klaus Baudelaire, and Patrick Warbuton, most known for his role on the 90s television series ‘Seinfeld’, will star as the narrator of the story, Lemony Snicket. Casting is still underway for other characters, including the youngest Baudelaire, Sunny. A film adaption of the popular book series was released in 2004, and Jim Carrey starred as the treacherous Count Olaf. The film received commercial and critical success, but only covered the first three books in the series.

Hopefully, the series will delve deeper into the unfortunate journey of the Baudelaires and the evil plots of Count Olaf. As mentioned before, ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ will debut later this year, but a release date has not been confirmed as of yet. Netflix is now the new hub to watch your favorite films and television shows, having created its own original shows as well. ‘Orange Is the New Black’, ‘Daredevil’, and ‘House of Cards’ have been widely successful and popular. Fingers crossed that ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ finds similar success.
