To my freshman year,

Where do I even begin? You’ve been one wild ride. From dorm move-in to spring finals, every single step has been an adventure, and I just want to thank you for all the wonderful memories you’ve given me.

Let’s start with friends: I didn’t expect to make so many new friends so quickly, but you surprised me. Many of the people I took my foreign language class with quickly became some of my closest friends, and you even gave me a new roommate for next year in another class.

That leads us to adventures: New friends lead directly to new memories to share. This year has been full of trying to navigate an entirely new school and town, and the stories that have come from that exploration is more valuable than anything I could ever express.

We’ll end with growth: This year has been a quest to try and discover who I am outside of who I was in high school. I’m happier than I ever thought I would be, and I’ve found new passions that I never would’ve had access to back home. I’ve spread my wings, and I’m learning to soar above all the limits I thought were holding me back.

Freshman year, you’ve been exciting and sometimes stressful, but I wouldn’t trade you for anything. Thank you for giving me space to fly.

Sincerely,

A Bird Set Free
