Senior Jayda Hazell leaves a lasting legacy as a Student Alumni Council member as she prepares for life after college.
“I joined the Student Alumni Council (SAC) because I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself,” Hazell said. “I wanted to help other students take pride in the tradition and history of the campus. I also wanted them to understand that students who came before them loved UGA enough to donate to the Student Alumni Association and pave a way for them to have the wonderful UGA experience they have today.”
The SAC is an organization that serves as a liaison between students on campus and UGA alumni.
Jayda is a cognitive science major from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. After graduation she plans on working while earning her master’s in Marketing.
When she’s not campaigning for the SAC in Tate Plaza, Jayda helps out underclassmen as a Continuing the Legacy of African American Student Success (C.L.A.S.S.) advocate.
“I became a CA because I thought it would be a great way to influence another student’s life,” Hazell said. “I wanted every student that attended UGA to enjoy their time here and not be overwhelmed by the size of the school, the number of people that attended or finding out where they fit in on campus. I think of myself as a resource and a friend to my residents to help them find their way.”
C.L.A.S.S. advocates help to address the needs and concerns of the minority community in undergraduate residence halls.
