Iconic Entertainment Turning 10 This Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

As if we all aren’t feeling old enough, here’s a look back on all the things that are turning ten in 2018. Oh, have times definitely changed.

1. High School Musical 3 and Camp Rock

We all remember acting out the first three High School Musical movies on the playground as we dreamed of high school and finding the Troy to our Gabriella. Times were definitely simpler, though our angsty teen selves may have said differently.

2. Twilight

Stephenie Meyer had us all wanting our own sparkly vampire. In less than three years after the publication of the first Twilight book, she had the hearts of every middle-school girl. The year 2008 marked the release of the first movie in the franchise. Are you team Edward or team Jacob?

3. Countless Iconic Songs

Just Dance,” “Love Story,” “That’s Not My Name,” “Disturbia,” and “I Kissed a Girl,” are just a few of the top hits that came out in 2008. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry were just a few of the bright-eyed young stars who rose to fame in the year 2008. We all know that these songs somehow have made it to our Spotify playlist just so we can jam out to it like old times.

4. WALL-E

WALL-E was the movie that made us all believe in love again. We never knew we could ship a robot couple who barely spoke until we saw the sweet interactions between WALL-E and EVE. The little robot successfully found his way into the hearts of everyone who saw the movie. This was a deep and insightful movie that made us all think about the direction humanity was going in. We will never forget our favorite robot couple.

5. Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas Dating

Do you remember the notorious love triangle between Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus? We certainly do! We all lived for this drama in 2008. Now, ten years later, each of these stars have blossomed in three unique ways. Now that we ship Justin and Selena as well as Miley and Liam, we can’t say that we’re sad to see this love triangle dissipate!

2008 was a great year that we look back on fondly, but we’re certainly glad to remain in 2018!
