Finals week. A week that the majority of college students don’t look forward to due to all the studying, the stress, and all the sleepless nights. At UGA, the only other thing more stressful than studying for finals is finding an actual place to sit down and do so. Around this time of the semester, you can almost guarantee that the Main Library on north campus and the MLC will be packed with students cramming at the last minute. If you want to avoid the crowds, or not waste time wandering campus trying to find a place to study, here are five study spots in Athens.

1. Athens-Clarke County Library

Location: 2025 Baxter St, Athens, GA 30606

The Main Library on campus will most likely be crowded, but if you’re trying to find another location with plenty of books, computer access, and a quiet atmosphere, check out the Athens-Clarke County Library. They are open every day of the week from 9a.m. – 9p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. – 6p.m. on Sundays.

2. Georgia Museum of Art cafe

Location: 90 Carlton St, Athens, GA 30602

The Georgia Museum of Art is located right on campus! Not only is it a great place to look at fine art, but it’s also a great study spot. The museum has a cafe on the inside that is open Tuesday through Friday. Admission to get into the museum is free.

3. Zombie Coffee and Donuts

Location: 350 E Broad St, Athens, GA 30601

No study spot would be complete without coffee and sugary sweets for a late night pick-me-up. However, the Starbucks and Jittery Joes on campus and downtown locations are going to have there fair share of long lines and limited seating. Zombie Coffee and Donuts is located downtown and not too far from north campus. There is plenty of seating available, delicious donuts, and of course, fresh coffee. They are open every day of the week and close at 10 p.m.

4. The State Botanical Garden of Georgia

Location: 2450 S Milledge Ave, Athens, GA, 30605

Need a change of scenery, or want to study outside? Then the State Botanical Garden of Georgia is the place for you. Spring is here and warmer weather allows us to study among Mother Nature. They are open every day from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

5. Sips Espresso Cafe

Location: 1390 Prince Ave, Athens, GA 30606

Sips is a cozy and casual coffee spot near Prince Avenue. They are open Sunday through Saturday and usually close around 9 p.m.

Good luck with finals, collegiettes!
