When the weather turns colder, there is no better time to have a night in with a good book. And what is a good book without something hot to drink? These are five books that are perfect for curling up on the couch on those rainy fall evenings and the perfect tea to match.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — J.k Rolling

Or Philosopher’s Stone, if you’re fancy.

Usually, I associate Harry Potter books with the Christmas Season. But The Sorcerer’s Stone is one of my favorite books to read, especially around Halloween.  It’s got witchcraft, magic spells, potions, and of course, a mountain troll in the dungeons.

For The Sorcerer’s Stone, I would go with pumpkin spice tea. It’s warm, rich, and Hogwarts always has pumpkin-flavored treats, so I am sure the house elves would recommend a pumpkin-flavored tea.

Jane Eyre — Charlotte Bronte

The story of Jane Eyre spans multiple changing seasons. Jane arrives at Thornfield in October and the setting of misty, rainy English moors always makes me think of fall. Jane Eyre is a classic book that I think everyone should read at least once, so what better time to cross it off your list than this fall?  It has drama, scandal, romance, and suspense.

Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books and I love to have a cup of Earl Grey tea while I read. Earl Grey is a classic tea, warm and dark, and a perfect match for Jane Eyre.

The Ex Hex — ERin Sterling

This is a light, fun romance novel to read, perfect for Halloween. Vivienne, a witch, accidentally curses her ex-boyfriend. When he returns to town ten years later, she realizes the harsh consequences her curse had on Mr. Ex. They then work together to save him and the town before it’s too late.

For the Ex Hex, I have to recommend the Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea, as this tea definitely matches the hot romance. It has hints of orange and clove and is absolutely delicious.

Dracula — BRam Stoker

I am reading Dracula for the first time in my Victorian Literature class and I absolutely love it. My sister read it for extra credit in her middle school English class and it was the book that made her love reading. It will certainly get you in the mood for Halloween and may inspire some fun costume ideas.

Harney & Sons has a Cranberry Autumn tea that is delicious. Dracula is a heavy read with a lot of dark themes. Both sweet and tart, the lighter fruity notes may help you get through some of the more intense scenes.

The Secret History — Donna Tartt

The Secret History had been on my list for a while. It perfectly matches the “Dark Academia” aesthetic. The story takes place in Vermont during the Fall when a student from California transfers to a university on the East coast to study classics. No place does Fall better than New England and this contemporary classic is full of mystery.

I know I keep talking about Harney & Sons, but they genuinely have the best tea I have ever tasted. And believe me, I drink a LOT of tea. They have a Black Cask Bourbon tea, strong and bold. A unique flavor for a unique book.

Fall is my favorite time of year and nothing makes it more enjoyable than good books and good tea. I hope you have as much fun reading these books as I did.
