A Dorm/Small Apartment Friendly Christmas Tree (On a Budget)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

We all want to bring a little bit of Christmas magic into our homes away from home, whether that’s a dorm or an apartment. I know a lot of us don’t have a ton of room for a large Christmas tree, but we still want to deck the (residence) halls. That is why I have gone on the hunt to create the most college-student-budget-friendly Christmas tree for your small apartment/dorm room!

The Tree

I got the tree from FiveBelow for $5! It’s 4 ft. high and, surprisingly, isn’t too skinny or flimsy! It also comes with a tree stand to hold it up!

The Ornaments

My ornaments are from Target! They were $5 and came in a pack of 24. Mine are red, white, and silver! They also had different sets with different colors if you want to do a different color scheme for your tree.

The Garland

The garland wrapped around my tree is also from Target. It was $4 and 15 ft long!

The Lights

The lights on the tree literally cost $2.50! They were also from Target (surprise), and each pack includes 50 lights. It wrapped around my tree perfectly, with enough room to plug in the lights at the back.

The Tree Skirt

The Tree Skirt is also from Target and was only $10. They have a variety of patterns, textures, and colors to choose from, but we ultimately went with red to match our tree’s color scheme!

The (nonexistent) Star

They didn’t have the star we wanted in stock, but when they get a new shipment, we will be adding this $5 star to the top of the tree! It is also from Target, and they have a variety of color options for these as well!

Basically, Target is your best friend. Also FiveBelow! And this isn’t just for Christmas, but for year-round decor! FiveBelow has a great selection of art prints, fake succulents, and much more to offer for our small spaces to feel a bit cozier!
