This Choreography to “Formation” Absolutely Slays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

By now, we’re sure all of you have listened to or at least heard about “Formation,” the newest song that Beyonce released in video form this weekend.

The release of the video came as a shock to us all, but what was even more surprising was Queen Bey’s ode to black feminism and black culture in general, with references to her Creole roots and imagery of both Hurricane Katrina and police brutality. Beyonce’s video made history, not just because of its content and the fact that it forced some people to actually pay attention to the issues of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, but because of the fact that “Formation” is just a great song that inspires us to twerk and unapologetically be black. So it’s not surprising that Los Angeles-based dancer and choreographer Will “WilldaBeast” Adams has already blessed us with a video of him and a group of other LA dancers literally slaying choreography to the song.

The video, filmed and edited by Tim Milgram, is a literal work of art and it also features China Taylor, one of the dancers that was also featured in the “Formation” video and who danced alongside Beyonce during her tribute to the Black Panthers at Super Bowl 50. Watch it for yourself and get into more of WilldaBeast’s choreography on his YouTube page
