The Bright Side of Spending Spring Break at Home

Listen fam, I know that Spring Break from home isn’t the ideal situation. You would rather be on the beach getting a tan or getting turnt at PCB with your friends, but you’re stuck at home.  One of the first steps to accepting a quiet Spring Break from home is that it’s more common than you think. In all my classes the Friday before spring break we went around and all said where we were going. A good majority of the class was just going to have a chill week at home, so you aren’t the only one stuck in the ‘burbs. But the good news is that there’s always a bright side to every situation.

You get to see your family and high school friends

For most of us, we haven’t been home since Christmas. Believe it or not, you can get pretty homesick no matter how much you promised yourself that you were never ever going to miss home after you left. You can spend the week doing cool things with your family and since you haven’t been home in couple of months, you basically always get your way.

Another great thing about being home is that you have the opportunity to see your high school friends. If you’re lucky enough to have the same spring break as some of your friends from home who go to other universities, you get to have a reunion with your friends you haven’t seen in awhile. You can visit your old haunts and relive the glory days.

You get to take some time to finally relax and slow down

We all get tired of constantly going every single day. Sometimes its good to take a couple of days and do nothing productive for a while. Do whatever you enjoy whether it be binge watching Netflix or doing something crafty. It’s just nice to do something other than school for awhile. You get so caught up in your studies, that you forget what it is you like to do or you don’t have time to do that hobby you enjoy so much.

You can earn a couple of extra bucks

I’ve found that it’s a lot easier to earn money at home than at school. If you have a job that let’s you come back seasonally, you can put in some hours there to earn a couple of extra dollars, because we all know that school ain’t no joke and it practically costs and arm and a leg. You have a whole week to yourself so having a good balance between work and school could go a long way from keeping you from going insane from doing nothing all week. Also if you have a dad like mine, he’ll offer you odd jobs to do around the house to make money. Ask your parents or other family members for odd jobs to do around the house to earn even more money.

You can catch up on your studies

I know this sounds extremely lame, but you can use all this free time to catch up on your studying I don’t know if the February slump hit you as hard as me, but I am at least two weeks behind in some of my classes. I’m planning on using this break to learn all of Microeconomics and the whole French language because I know that next week is going to be filled with tests.

I know spring break from home isn’t exactly ideal, but try to look on the bright side and use it as a time relaxation and maybe even productivity if your mind can’t be at rest.

Enjoy your spring break!
