Valentine’s Day is just days away and love is in the air! College is often a time of  casual dating  and late night hook-ups, but this week I wanted to cover seven UGA individuals who met their special someone while in college.

“I went to Alabama and he goes to UGA, we met at the SEC Championship in 2012! Haha! He wasn’t the happiest Georgia fan after the game but I guess I did something right. 3 years later and we still laugh about how we met.”

“I met Brandon working a summer job at an indoor trampoline park… It sounds ridiculous, I know. I had just gotten out of a long relationship and he had just transferred to UGA, so we really weren’t looking for anything. Still, I couldn’t believe my eyes when he walked in on his first day.. (I mean, look at him) but we tried our best to play it cool initially. We would hang out with our co-workers over the summer but by football season I was crazy about him. Looking back, every seemingly random occurrence was a piece of the puzzle that fell perfectly in place to lead us to one another. I would have never guessed in a million years that he’d waltz into my life and take it by storm, but I think the absolute best things in life happen just like that- entirely unexpectedly.”

“We met at 18, our freshman year at Mercer University in Macon and we became part of the same group of friends. Despite my mom asking me “why don’t you like him, he is so cute,” I never thought we would end up together. After spending time with him as I took a break from school I guess you can say fate stepped in. We fell in love and fell in love fast. Spending three years traveling long two hours between work and school to spend time together. After three years I followed him to Athens as he was working towards his pharmacy degree, and I also became a uga dawg. Five and a half years later we are still going strong. I hate to admit it, but I guess my mom was right.”

“My boyfriend, Brandon, and I met through one of my best friends during my sophomore year at Georgia Southern. At the time, I was trying to find love but with all the wrong  guys and Brandon was trying to find love but with all the wrong girls. So my friend knew that if he told both of us specific things that we’d agree to meet. He told me that Brandon was the perfect guy for me and I said,” Yeah right!” Even though I was still intrigued to meet him. He told Brandon that I was a cool girl so Brandon agreed to me. I’ll never forget I was eating strawberry frozen yogurt the day I met Brandon because, I had just gotten told by a guy I was talking to for 5 months that he didn’t want to be hear from me anymore. I thought Brandon was cute and funny and I thought maybe he would be great for me. Brandon wasn’t interested in me till later. The next time we met up was my 20th birthday and we spent like 5 hours talking to each other! I was like oh yeah I like him he’s so different. Brandon, however, was still not interested. I ended up writing him a letter before school got out for the summer saying that I liked him and I needed to know before I left if he liked me so I could spend the summer getting over him. He told me the next day that he liked me and wanted us to start hanging out more one on one. He didn’t ask me to be his girlfriend until 3 weeks later but we’ve been together almost 4 years now and I always say that meeting  him was the best decision I’ve ever made.”

“Deante went to my best friends high school and was apart of a dancing group. I first noticed him at my best friend’s (Jamila Jenkins) 18th birthday dinner, and ever since then I knew I had a crush on “dancy boy”. But it wasn’t until two years later that he popped back into my life when he showed up in Athens for my other bestfriend (Te’Asia Snowden) birthday party at ECV. I opened the door and was completely shocked to see him. After that we started to text and talk on the phone when we had time . But it wasn’t until a year later that we realize we had true feelings for each other. December 2013 I asked him if we were together and he said yeah, are we? Haha. And I’ve been on cloud 9 ever since.”

“We met our freshman year in high school and after becoming good friends, we started dating  that December. A week into our relationship I told him that I loved him (I was so young!) and he said he loved me too. We’ve been together over 6 years now and he just proposed to me in Italy this past December!”

“Well my boyfriend and I actually met on Tinder lol but we had had two classes together prior that included a lot of awk eye contact without ever having a conversation together. We also saw each other everywhere else on campus and when I saw him on Tinder I was kind of all “wow I definitely know who this person is” and we started talking and really hit it off. When we finally met each other in person he brought it up and said “yeah I’ve seen you everywhere but never had the guts to say anything” and I was like SAME”
