9 Reasons Why the Great British Baking Show is the Best Show to Binge During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

The Great British Baking Show is 100% the show you should be watching during finals season.

Obviously, the bakes are gorgeous.

Yes, you’re at home with a funfetti mug cake from Walmart, but just close your eyes, and it’s a vanilla bean layer cake with multicolored sprinkles and a perfect texture.

It’s a low-stakes competition.

I don’t know about y’all, but I get stressed out watching certain TV shows—that’s certainly not the case here! Yes, it’s a competition, but it’s not going to keep you up at night (and we all know how important sleep is during finals!)

It’s on Netflix, so you can watch at your own pace.

It’s easy enough to reward yourself as you study—maybe you watch one challenge after an hour of studying, or in between subjects as a breather.

Paul Hollywood’s blue, blue eyes.

Do I need to say any more?

There’s a holiday edition to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Finals don’t stir up feelings of love and joy, but luckily for us, Netflix released its second holiday edition of the Great British Baking Show to really get us into the Christmas spirit no matter how hard finals try to get us down.

Plenty of British accents to go around

They’re just fun to listen to.

All of the contestants are genuinely nice to each other!

Honestly, this could be a Canadian show for how nice everyone is. They’re all supportive and kind (just how we should be during finals!)

Mary Berry’s soggy bottoms.

We love Mary Berry, but we don’t love soggy bottoms!

Banter between the hosts is always golden.

Whether it’s Mel and Sue or Sandi and Noel, the hosts play a huge role in making the show as fun as it is.

Good luck during finals! Remember not to overprove your bakes!
