8 Things You Should Stop Posting on Instagram

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Instagram is great and all but we have to admit that there are a few things we’re a little tired of seeing pop up on our timelines these days. We’re not saying that there’s some kind of official, unspoken guide to Instagram etiquette but…yes there is. And if you aren’t up to date on what that code is, allow us to help you out by letting you know about a few things that you should stop posting on Instagram.

1. #MCM

Surprise! It’s your boyfriend again. We really wanted to see that, considering it’s been a whole six days since the last MCM you posted of him. Thanks for sharing. Actually we’re being sarcastic and it’s annoying. MCM is cute every once in a while but keep it to once or twice a month.

2. #TBT

We personally love Throwback Thursday. The pictures can be funny, cute, and interesting. But if you’re posting multiple pics every week, please re-evaluate yourself. Live in the present.

3. Senior pictures

You’re in college. It’s not the first semester of your senior year. We don’t think that super-edited senior picture that doesn’t look anything like you will help you pick up your crush. It just makes you look desperate. Again, this is okay every once in a while. Try to not post more than one per semester.

4. Too many selfies

Selfies are great, don’t get us wrong. But if your past three or more posts are just you with some dramatic caption, please re-evaluate.

5. Gym selfies

Cool, you work out. So do a lot of other people. Why isn’t insta full of workout pictures? Because most people know it’s tacky and annoying. Also, how hard are you working out if you look good enough to insta?

6. Money

Most of the world earns money, you aren’t that special. Send a picture to your mom if you really need to share.

7. Shoutouts to fake companies

They’re not real! Southwest isn’t going to fly you to Hawaii for free because you took a screenshot of a false account’s picture. You show stupidity. Just don’t.

8. Obnoxious overuse of hashtags

It doesn’t increase your likes by that much and it doesn’t look good.
