6 Lauv Lyrics That Will Make You Want to Fall in Love

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

This is Lauv:

Real name Ari Staprans Leff, a former NYU student who has recently been gaining fame through his poetic lyrics and mellow vibes. Therefore comes my unpopular opinion: Lauv > Ed Sheeran. This man has the capability of thawing even the coldest of hearts, and now that cuffing season is around the corner, don’t settle for someone unless they appreciate this man’s music. Because, let’s face it: If your S.O. doesn’t serenade you with any of these songs, then are they really the one?

1. Paris in the Rain

Finding love standing right where we are, your lips

They pull me in the moment

You and I alone and

People may be watching, I don’t mind

‘Cause anywhere with you feels right

Anywhere with you feels like Paris in the rain

AN ULTIMATE FAVORITE. This is the type of song to play in the background of a cheesy romance movie as you see the silhouettes of two lovers shine against the bright lights of the Eiffel Tower as a light drizzle dampens their clothes, but not their love. Totes romantic.

2. I Like Me Better

I don’t know what it is but I got that feeling (got that feeling)

Waking up in this bed next to you swear the room

Yeah, it got no ceiling

If we lay, let the day just pass us by

Lauv’s hit song as heard in To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. This is the song to play when you realize that you could be 100% yourself around your significant other, no acts or walls to put up. Just knowing that you and your S.O. make each other better people in the long run without tearing the other down is a beautiful thing. This is the type of song to play on a road trip with a top-down convertible with the wind blowing through each other’s hair as they steal not so subtle glances at each other during the long ride. Think Lara Jean & Peter Kavinsky.

3. Easy Love

I could let you go and we could let it be

But that would be too easy, love

And I don’t want no easy love

A beautiful song with a groovy tune to remind each other in the relationship that your typical ordinary love is boring; the best kind is the one that you work for and thrive for. The type of song to play after a small argument as you dance terribly with your S.O. in the small kitchen of your apartment in the south side of the city.

4. Chasing Fire

I wanna feel you, really feel you

Not just hold you close at night

We keep our bodies tied together

To ignore what’s on our minds

This song is for the couple with a physical love language. The pair that just can’t seem to get enough of the other’s touch that it just feels like fire to their skin. “Chasing Fire” is the type of song to play for the couple who has a lot of energy in their relationship, both good and bad. Whether it be the fire that warms your skin or burns you to the touch.

5. Never Not

To the room in my heart with the memories we made

Nights on fifth, in between B and A

There’s no way I could ever forget, mmm

For as long as I live and as long as I love

I will never not think about you

A bit of a sappy song with only a guitar and harmonies to bring life to the lyrics, but that doesn’t stop from appreciating love itself. For that rough patch in the relationship or that first love that will always have a place in your heart… this song is more of a sappy tune but will still warm that frosted heart regardless. This is the type of song to play when it’s a chilly autumn day and they’re curled up in a soft blanket in front of a fireplace with old polaroids scattered throughout the rug.

6. Adrenaline

Cause baby we hit the top

Sweeter than sugar rocks

Holding onto a moment

Let go, I’m falling off

A very underappreciated song for the type of love that gets your heart beating so fast that you can’t breathe. This is more for the new relationship who is struggling to surpass the honeymoon phase and trying to recreate the highs that they felt back then. Still, that doesn’t stop their hearts from beating in unison.

Lauv’s album I met you when I was 18. (the playlist) features a number of different songs for the person who just got broken up with or the person who just succumbed to a new relationship. Regardless, this man has a way with words. Show some love to Lauv.
