5 Spooky Decorations to Get You in the Mood for Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

With Halloween just around the corner, now is the time to engage in all things spooky. Outside of partaking in those classic fall activities such as carving pumpkins or going to haunted houses, a great way to get you in the mood for Halloween is to add some spooky decorations to your home. There’s just something about sitting at home surrounded by holiday decor that really gets you in the mood for Halloween. The great thing about some of these decorations is that they can be used all year long.

1. Pumpkins

This is not the spookiest decoration, but it is certainly a classic. Pumpkins have a wide range of decor, going so much more beyond orange. They can be made out of unique materials such as straw. They can also be painted a variety of colors such a teal, white, or gold. Cute, decorative pumpkins can be found at Target for $12.

2. Moon Himalayan Salt Lamp

This crescent-shaped salt lamp is a unique take on the orange crystal lamp that we have all come to know and love. This lamp can be found at Urban Outfitters for $29.

3. Stardust Tapestry

The design on this tapestry is unique and remarkably detailed. It is also extremely well-made so it’s worth that more expensive price. One of the best things about this tapestry is that it glows in the dark. It comes in black and white or white and rose gold. These two color combinations are perfect to go in any space. This tapestry can be found at Urban Outfitters for $49.

4. Hammered Metal Moon Cycle Banner

The great thing about this banner is that it allows for a lot of variation. You could have a banner with a combination of full moons and crescent moons or a combination of moons and stars. It comes in different colors such a black, blue, or gold. The banner is a unique take on the typical moon poster that many of us have included in our bedrooms. This can be found at Urban Outfitters for $18.

5. Halloween Candles

Bath & Body Works launched a line of Halloween scents and fragrances. Upon hearing about these candles, we were a little skeptical. No one knows what ‘Vampire Blood’ or ‘Magic Ghosts’ is supposed to smell like. However, upon a quick trip to the local Bath & Body Works, we quickly found out that these scents actually smelled pretty good.

The possibilities of spooky decor are truly endless. You can go as over-the-top or as subtle as you would like. The most important thing is that you express your own unique style and have fun while doing it.
