5 Reasons to Get Excited for the 2nd Season of Riverdale

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

So, the highly anticipated second season of Riverdale doesn’t actually come out for another whole month, Wednesday October 11 at 8 p.m. on the CW network to be exact, but that isn’t stopping the show’s super fans from ramping up the upcoming episodes. Here are five reasons to get excited for the new season:

1. BUGHEAD

Betty and Jughead FOREVER. Reports from Comic Con have indicated some rough waters ahead for our favorite TV show couple, but we all know that they are true soul mates, both on and off-screen.

2. Cheryl

Cheryl went through the ringer last season. The show began with the disappearance and death of her creepy brother (also twincest?), and (no spoilers) ends with her entire family being ripped apart. Cheryl could not handle this immense pressure and we don’t blame her, but burning her house down and maiming her mother, might be taking it too far. Will Cheryl have to face the consequences of these criminal actions and will she do so with the snarkiest attitude? Probs.

3. SABRINA

The buzz over Sabrina in the show have been kept super hush hush. However, the show runner has commented that no magical elements will take place in the show. Sabrina the Teenage Witch was the OG 90’s role model, and a darker Riverdale-type Sabrina would bring the show to a whole other level.

4. Will Archie still be the dumbest character?

The entire first season Archie cared way too much about his football team and his affair with the teacher, meanwhile people were actually dying. In other words, Archie needs to get his head in the game and focus on the real problems at hand. With the season one cliffhanger, it looks like Archie will be forced to get a little more serious.

5. The New Cast

Other than the rumors surrounding Sabrina and a number of other new character have been announced such as Veronica’s Dad, Hiram Lodge, and Toni Topaz played by My Babysitters a Vampire’s Vanessa Morgan. Also, Reggie will now be played by Charles Melton.

Sam is getting her degree in Film Studies at UGA. She hopes to continue writing entertainment reviews and comedy nonsense after graduation. She's always got a latte in hand and can be seen practicing handstands all around campus.
