5 Must-See Rock Concerts in Atlanta This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

For the summer of 2020, Atlanta is attracting a wide variety of musical acts from every genre. Whether you’re into country, rap, alternative, or pure pop, someone will be in Atlanta so you can get your fill. From budget-friendly to splurge options, everyone can easily find an unforgettable show to attend. No matter if you’re a longtime fan or are in the mood to discover some new music, Atlanta can provide the best, solid rock music this summer.

Hella Mega Tour: Green Day, Fall Out Boy, & Weezer

Yes, you read that correctly. Green Day, Fall Out Boy, and Weezer are teaming up to travel the world for the Hella Mega Tour. They land in Atlanta on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 5:30 in the evening. The pop-punk powerhouses that have ruled the alternative charts for years are gracing Atlanta for a showstopping performance that you don’t want to miss.

Make It Big Tour: The Struts

Hailing from Derby, England, The Struts are a lesser-known band with a sound familiar to all. Citing influences such as Freddie Mercury and having opened for classic rock powerhouses like The Who, Foo Fighters, and The Rolling Stones, The Struts have reintroduced the electric guitar and classic rock foundations to a world full of synthesizers and dance music. Appearing at The Masquerade (Heaven) on Saturday, June 13 at 7 PM, this will be an unforgettable performance in an intimate venue.

No Filter Tour: The Rolling Stones

Again, yes, you read that correctly—The Rolling Stones will grace the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday, July 9 at 8 PM. with their last stop in America for the No Filter Tour. It’s truly a wonder that they are still on the road, having first formed 58 years ago. Although this ticket is on the pricier side, it is well worth it to see the rock legends in the flesh. To see the British Invasion unfold before your eyes in your hometown is priceless.

The Stadium Tour: Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts

Another linkage of rock powerhouses will occur on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Truist Park (formerly Suntrust Park) at 4:30 PM. This amazing lineup brings everything great from the 1980s onto one single stage. Their influence is undeniable, and such a lineup will be unlikely to occur ever again.

2020 Stadium Tour: Guns N’ Roses

The legendary rock group will perform at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 6 PM. With iconic founding members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan, this show will be unforgettable. One of the most iconic bands of the 1980s and 1990s, Guns N’ Roses have truly treated their fans to an expansive world tour.

Although the art of rock is somewhat dying and on it’s way out, both the legends and newcomers seem to prove the conception incorrect. The appearance of all experience levels of rock prove that the art is here to stay, and we should enjoy it when it comes to Atlanta.
