It’s that time of year where all you want to do is sit by the fire, wrap yourself in a blanket, and crack open the pages of a book. Here are five reads that are sure to keep you feeling the ~fall vibes~ as the leaves change colors and the pumpkin flavors emerge into your coffee.

Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Coraline finds another world behind a small door in the new house into which she has moved. This world where her “Other Mother” and “Other Father” exist seems bright and happy on the surface but soon becomes sinister and eerie. It’s up to Coraline to figure out what to do in this spooky, dark, fantastical tale that anyone can read in mere hours.

The Night circus by erin morgenstern

Love, adventure, magicians, fortune tellers, mysterious traveling circuses… all set against beautiful and developed prose. The Night Circus is the definition of a cozy book that makes you feel like you’re under the night sky’s shimmering stars.

The truly devious series by maureen johnson

A trilogy of mystery novels that takes place in a boarding school in Vermont… yes, it’s as dazzling as it sounds. Taking place over the first part of the school year, Ellingham Academy’s Stevie Bell must investigate a string of murders that have occurred in the present and how they are connected to a case from decades before. The novels’ aesthetic consists of crunchy leaves, maple syrup, and conspiracy to kill. Perfect for fall!

The time traveler’s wife by audrey niffenegger

This decades-long story follows a couple with an epic love story. Henry, a librarian, can time travel, and Clare, an art student, waits for him. Riddled with bright imagery, cozy and colorful scenery, and a relationship that will have you crying into your hot chocolate – these pages are ones to savor.

little women by Louisa may Alcott

A classic seasonal novel! Little Women is the definition of a book filled with all the things that make life worth living: family, love, dreams, and hope. As you follow the four March sisters through their misadventures, you’ll find yourself wanting to be like Jo and take a new direction this fall. “I don’t like to doze by the fire. I like adventures, and I’m going to find some.”

Which of these books makes you think of fall? Whichever one comes to mind, pick it up and lose yourself in the pages. Happy reading!
