With the return of the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus putting on her Hannah Montana wig, and Billy Ray Cyrus on Old Town Road (which is a great song by the way!), a lot of us 90’s/00’s babies are feeling nostalgic. With the return of our childhood idols and the subpar entertainment currently on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, it seems like the right time to take a trip down memory lane and remember some of our favorite childhood TV shows and idols. Out of all of the wonderful shows we grew up with on Disney Channel and Nick, there are at least four shows that would be even better if they were rebooted in 2019—with the original cast, of course. Most of the children who watched these shows when they were on TV are now in college or in their 20’s, so having a reboot where the characters are more mature and going through similar experiences will make it even more relatable.

Hannah Montana

All four seasons of Hannah Montana showed the characters growing up, but the final season showed them in a more young-adult way as they started making decisions for what they want to do with their lives. At the very end, Miley and Lilly were preparing to go to college. A reboot of this show could show their lives in college or even after college with jobs and careers. The story of the group of friends does not have to end before college and it would be good to see how friendships and relationships change from high school to college, which will capture the audience of people familiar with the original show and even those who didn’t grow up watching it.

Wizards of Waverly Place

Some kids weren’t allowed to watch Wizards of Waverly Place when it was on TV, so you might not understand how good of a show it was. The Russo kids had to balance high school and magic lessons along with friendships, relationships, and saving the Wizard World. The show ended with the three Russo kids competing in the Wizard competition and finding out their career paths. Although the story continued after the show ended with The Wizards Return: Alex vs Alex, the lives of Alex, Justin, and Max are still pretty unknown. In 2019, a reboot of this show would include each original character in a more mature role that deals with their lives being the Head of Wiztech, or the owner of the Sub Shop, or the Family Wizard. These grown-up roles are completely different from high school, so seeing the kids try and navigate adulthood would be very entertaining.

Austin and Ally

The Disney show Austin and Ally was created later than Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place, but is still considered old Disney. Austin and Ally got better as the seasons went on and turned out to be really good by the final season. There are many reasons for this show to be rebooted. Laura Marano who played Ally Dawson has a successful solo music career and has developed a more mature voice than when she was on Austin and Ally. Ross Lynch has continued acting and has been singing even after the show ended. Both have gained even more fans then they did when the show was airing. Noah Centineo, who played Ally’s love interest in season one, is staring alongside Laura again in the Netflix movie, The Perfect Date. Rebooting this show will showcase better music since both Laura and Ross have developed their own signature sounds and will gain a lot of attention since a lot of the original actors have gained a following after the show ended.

Good Luck Charlie

Teddy Duncan made vlogging as popular as it is today! Good Luck Charlie may be the most likely to have a reboot because the last seasons of the show had Charlie getting older and Toby being born and growing up. The actors who played Charlie and Toby are getting older and can even have significant roles in the reboots to see how their lives turn out following Teddy’s advice in her video messages. Again, Teddy was heading to college when the show ended so seeing her life after leaving Denver could be a great way to continue the story while also keeping it entertaining.

Although we likely won’t see any reboots in 2019 since Disney likes to create new shows for the younger generation, it is nice to remember the good old days of Disney. However, with the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus reliving their past we may be lucky and get some old shows brought back or at least added on Netflix!
