Halloween season is upon us, which means it’s time to get your costumes together. In recent years, Halloween costumes have gotten a lot more serious, especially in the age of celebrities, influencers, and social media. People already have their costumes planned in August and September, and sometimes they have multiple costumes to show off throughout the entire month of October.

Unfortunately, Halloween costumes can be expensive, and the pressure of picking a costume can be so overwhelming you put it off until the last minute and spend the day scrambling to find out what you should dress up as. Then you end up going as the same thing that you’ve been already or you don’t dress up at all.

We’re going to give you some fun and easy (and minimal DIY for the non-creatives out there!) costumes you can put together using items you already have in your closet so you don’t have to break the bank and can stand out at your Halloween parties!

Shaggy from scooby-doo

Shaggy is a very minimal guy, so all you’ll need for this one is a green shirt and some brown or khaki pants. You can also make this as cute or simple as you want. If you want to doll it up by wearing a skirt, or super cute top instead of a t-shirt, go ahead!

Bonus points if you have Scooby Snacks or a furry friend to complete the look!

Side Note: All of the Mystery Gang is easy to do. Shaggy is the most simple, but if Daphne, Fred, Velma, or even Scooby are calling to you, dress up as them! All you need to do is match their color scheme, and you don’t have to worry too much about matching exactly because their palettes are so recognizable.

scarecrow

For this one, all you need is plaid flannel and some jeans. You can even do denim shorts, denim skirts, or overalls to switch it up. The makeup is key for this one, so look up different scarecrow designs and use your favorite for inspo.

Wednesday ADDAMS from the ADDAMS Family

To mimic Wednesday’s look, you can use any black dress you have. Of course, it would be great to have a collared, dark academia-style dress like hers, but once you style your hair to match her signature braids, everyone’s going to know who you’re dressed as.

The Powerpuff girls

The PPG are known for their iconic pink, blue, and green, so all you need to do is get two friends and pick which Powerpuff Girl you want to be. You can copy their classic dresses with black belts, or you can do a more modern spin on it and dress super trendy!

Olivia Rodrigo on her sour album cover

The key to recreating this look is getting tiny stickers to place all over your face as Olivia did. Other than that, you just need a white tank top and layered necklaces to complete the costume.

It also wouldn’t hurt to turn the party into an Olivia karaoke session!

Rosie the riveter

If you want to dress as this feminist icon, you just need a blue shirt or a blue dress, and a red headband or bandana!

A sim

You’ll need to do a bit of DIY here to make the Sims’ notorious green diamond that floats above their head. But other than that, you can literally wear whatever you want since the game is so customizable and lifelike.

If you want to make the headband yourself, check this out, but if you’re not too hands-on, you can buy one here!

Vampire

This one is fun because you can go so many different routes with it. You can do the famous, all-black, dark academia style, or do something more up-to-date and take after Twilight or The Vampire Diaries. The only thing you can’t forget is the teeth! You can also add some fake blood if you really want to show out — and maybe some body glitter if you want to have the skin of a killer.

The Twilight Saga Edward and Bella
Summit Entertainment
euphoria characters

Euphoria is known for its eccentric and original costuming (Maddy alone has several iconic outfits), but it’s also notorious for its intricate makeup looks. If you have the clothes to copy specific characters you can, but if you don’t, all you need to do is put on some super cute dresses or two pieces, and do whatever flashy makeup look is calling to you to give off that Euphoria aesthetic.

violet beauregarde from willy Wonka and the chocolate factory

This is another look where you can let the makeup do all the work. If you don’t have a blue tracksuit, you can wear any all-blue outfit that you want. Brush on some blue eyeshadow or face paint in your nose area, and don’t forget your chewing gum!

Princess Leia from STAR wars

A Princess Leia costume isn’t hard; you just need to wear white. In the movies, Leia was seen wearing white dresses, white robes, and white jumpsuits. You can go any route you want just as long as you don’t forget her iconic buns.

KIKI FROM KIKI’S DELIVERY SERVICE

To dress up as this iconic Studio Ghibli character, all you need is an oversized dark blue t-shirt or a dark blue dress. You’ll also need a big red bow, and carrying around a broom is optional to complete the look.

beyoncÉ in the crazy in love music video

This is probably one of the easiest costumes ever. You just need a white tank top and denim shorts or a denim skirt. Top it off with some red heels (or any red shoe!) and you’ll look just like Queen B in the first solo music video of her career.

She-Hulk

Dressing up as The Hulk’s cooler, funnier cousin is absolutely the way to go this year, especially because her new show recently premiered on Disney+ in August. She-Hulk is a lawyer, so bust out your business casual! If you really want to commit to it, then you can paint your whole body green, but if not, going as her human form is cool too.

Greek Gods or Goddesses

This one isn’t necessarily coming from your clothes closet, it’s coming from your linen closet. All you need is some sheets you’re not using, and you drape them any way you want. Also, don’t be afraid to think outside the box and use colorful sheets and not just white ones! And don’t forget to accessorize or add any props to match the god or goddess you chose.

We hope these ideas inspired you and gave you an idea about what you can dress up as this Halloween. Don’t be afraid to take these suggestions to the next level and make them completely your own! Halloween is all about creativity.
