“Evermore” by Taylor Swift is a fan-favorite fall album. Despite the album being released in December of 2020 and having references to the winter months, many people believe that it’s one of Swift’s most autumnal albums. Most of these songs are sung from the perspective of a character, which is why so many songs carry traits of real people woven in. Many of these traits and vibes align with those that are commonly found in zodiac signs. So, based on these character traits and vibes, which “Evermore” song are you? I’m going to tell you.
Disclaimer: I have my own knowledge of zodiacs, but most of the traits described are going to be based on those given from zodiacsign.com, so if you don’t like them, it’s nothing against your sign.
1. Aquarius (January 20–February 18)
To begin, Aquarius traits are originality and independence. The song that I think can represent them is “Happiness,” as it elaborates on how the narrator is navigating the end of a long-term relationship. This song describes how the speaker grew accustomed to having their ex around, but also knows that they were happy before they were in a relationship, so they can be happy after it too. This sense of independence is what makes “Happiness” linked to the traits of an Aquarius.
2. Pisces (February 19–March 20)
“Champagne Problems” is the song that best fits Pisces. Pisces are compassionate and emotional people who both feel for others and are in tune with their own emotions. This song is about a failed marriage in which the narrator blames herself. In the song, it’s explained that she hopes her ex-fiancé gets everything that she couldn’t give him. “Champagne Problems” is a beautiful song that resonates with both the positive, compassionate traits and some negative victimizing traits of a Pisces.
3. Aries (March 21–April 19)
Aries are confident, passionate and honest individuals. However, sometimes these fiery traits can lead to aggressiveness, hence why “Closure” is the track for Aries. In “Closure,” the narrator states how she has no room in her life for continuing any sort of relationship, even just a friendship, with someone who emotionally hurt her before. She states that she doesn’t care about any of the olive branches he has reached out to her and “[doesn’t] need his closure.” This decisiveness is what makes me connect “Closure” to Aries.
4. Taurus (April 20–May 20)
The perfect song for the stable, patient and loyal Taurus is one of Evermore’s bonus tracks, “Right Where You Left Me”. This song is about how everyone in the world is changing and moving from thing to thing, but the narrator stays stuck in a moment in time. This moment is a bad breakup that consumes her, and she is unable to move on from it. Taurus’ intense devotion and dislike of sudden changes is what gives them the same vibes as “Right Where You Left Me”.
5. Gemini (May 21–June 20)
Common traits of Geminis are that they are intelligent and adaptable, but also chaotic and inconsistent. This makes the fun song “Long Story Short” a good reflection of their traits. Though this song is very upbeat and the creativity of Swift’s lyrics makes it fun, the song reminisces on the narrator’s past struggles. However, over time, the narrator comes to accept the past, moves on and gains wisdom from mistakes. One specific struggle is that of always choosing bad guys, but she now has a good relationship. The adaptability of the narrator is what makes “Long Story Short” remind me of Geminis.
6. Cancer (June 21–July 22)
“Dorothea” is the song that I would assign to Cancers. The song is about someone who was left in their hometown by presumably an ex-lover or ex-friend, Dorothea, because they wanted to pursue their dreams. The song questions the ex about whether they still think of the narrator, but also assures them that if they get sick of having fake people around them, then they will always have the narrator, despite the fact that they don’t talk to each other anymore. Cancers are very loyal, emotional and sympathetic, which makes me think that if they were in the situation of the narrator of “Dorothea,” they would feel the same way.
7. Leo (July 23–August 22)
Leo’s are commonly passionate, generous and humorous people; however, they won’t stand for it when someone doesn’t treat them how they want to be treated. This sense of self-worth and intensity is why “It’s Time to Go” has Leo vibes. The song is about knowing when to leave a situation, especially when it’s harmful to yourself. They have the confidence to leave when things are going poorly, which is why I think this song resonates with many Leos.
8. Virgo (August 23–September 22)
“No Body, No Crime” perfectly fits the traits of a Virgo. The song is about how, in avenging the death of the narrator’s friend, she kills her late friend’s husband and frames his new wife for the murder. The song reveals the faithful and meticulous nature of the narrator. I believe it’s most likely that this narrator is a Virgo because she is loyal, analytical and practical, as many Virgos are.
9. Libra (September 23–October 22)
The beautiful and emotional “Marjorie” is the song that immediately reminded me of Libras. Libras value balance, diplomacy and fairness. In “Marjorie,” Swift sings about the lessons she was taught by her late grandmother. Many of these lessons consist of how to be a graceful and balanced person, such as “Never be so kind, you forget to be clever/ Never be so clever, you forget to be kind”. This focus on how balance can make you a better person is why I think the song reflects the traits of Libras.
10. Scorpio (October 23–November 21)
Scorpios are often passionate and devoted people who dislike superficiality and dishonesty. This is why “Tolerate It” is the track that I think best suits Scorpios. The song is about the narrator giving so much love to someone and knowing they deserve the same, but it’s unreturned. The amount of love that a Scorpio can give due to their loyalty and passion is one aspect that makes “Tolerate It” give off Scorpio energy. The song is also deeply emotional, which aligns with the traits of a Scorpio.
11. Sagittarius (November 22–December 21)
People who are Sagittarius are known for being adventurous, outgoing and idealistic. “Cowboy Like Me” is a song about the love story of two people who are fraudulent socialites. The somewhat adventurous and outgoing nature that is necessary for this ‘profession’, for lack of better words, is what immediately draws likeness to Sagittarius traits. In the song, the narrator gets tricked, and their lover does just what they normally do when tricking people. The idealistic hope that the narrator had is also a Sagittarius-like trait, and why “Cowboy Like Me” is a song that fits them.
12. Capricorn (December 22–January 19)
“Gold Rush” is a song in which the narrator displays similar traits to Capricorns. Capricorns tend to value self-control and discipline. “Gold Rush” is about being frustrated with yourself for having a crush on someone who is popular and feels unattainable. The feelings expressed are similar to how Capricorns would behave because they are so used to being in control of their emotions and life, which is not how the situation in the song makes you feel. Not being in control overwhelms the narrator and parallels the song to Capricorns.
Many of the traits exhibited in the songs of Taylor Swift’s album, “Evermore,” are also associated with many zodiac signs. Whether it’s the narrator or the message, the vibes and characteristics of the zodiac signs can be found. I hope you like the “Evermore” song that can be associated with your sign; perhaps even if you aren’t a Swiftie, you should give your assigned song a listen and see if you relate to it!
