One of the more feminine, classic trends we have to look forward to this spring is the full skirt. Why not stand out against the crowd of mini skirts with a lovely midi skirt? Don’t let the length of this style intimidate you. Every height and body shape can rock this ladylike piece, so here are three things to consider when you decide to jump on the midi train:

Length This is one of the most important factors when choosing the right midi skirt for you. If you’re on the petite side, choose a skirt that falls knee-length or just below it. For my taller girls, you have the option to have your skirt fall a little further down. Try on a few to get a good idea of what works best on your figure.

Style Just like any other kind of skirt, the midi comes in a variety of shapes and colors, so pick a shape and cut that fits your personal style. If you like to show off the bottom half of your body, you can choose a body-fitting midi or one with a slight side-slit. You can also choose to stay a little conservative by choosing a full skirt with pleats, or, find your perfect midi by way of your favorite material, whether it be leather or chiffon. The options are endless!

Ways to wear a Midi One of the biggest concerns that comes with buying a midi skirt is the fear of looking short or stubby. You can easily avoid this problem with the right accessories. The easiest trick is to wear a pair of heels or wedges to give you some extra height, but you can also make your legs look longer by wearing a pair of nude, pointy flats if you prefer to stay more grounded. Just like any other piece, the key to wearing your skirt successfully is to balance it out with the rest of your outfit. If you’re wearing a fuller skirt, wear a tighter fitting top and tuck it in or a loose top for a midi skirt that’s more fitted.

Enjoy the beautiful weather, collegiettes™ — see you next time!
